BQ25883: Will VREGN be disable when ADC disable to acheive a low power consumption

Part Number: BQ25883

On the datasheet, it mentioned the chipset power consumption will be around 12uA when ADC disable. While, I wodering if VREGN will be disable or not? Cause it will have much higher fix power conumption if the VREGN not disable.

  • Hi Pierson Wang,

VREG is the output of an internal voltage regulator that is required to bias some of the internal circuitry required for charging. For this reason, it cannot be disabled during charging operation. The LDO should be disabled if there is no input adaptor connected to minimize quiescent current.

Please let me know if you would like any clarifications.

  • Hi Juan Ospina,

I found the REGN always on even without any VBUS input. I am wondering any situation would trigger this?

    Thanks,
    Pierson

  • Hi Pierson,

I misread your originial question. Disabling the ADC, while no VBUS input is present, will disable the REGN. In this case, it is likely still enabled because the ADC is enabled.
