TPS7B69-Q1: output voltage overshoot when power on

Part Number: TPS7B69-Q1

Hi Expert,

Our customer uses TPS7B6933-q1 and finds overshoot when power on. The schematic and test scope are as below. The input and output capacitor is within the range datasheet recommends. Is there any hint for debugging? Thanks a lot for help!

  • Hi Elec,

With 22uF + 4.7uF on the output, it is likely that the TPS7B69-Q1 is starting up in current limit, which is a known cause of overshoot. If they can reduce the output capacitance it should help with the overshoot.

Can you also have them provide a zoomed-in scope shot of this startup with overshoot? Another common cause of overshoot is starting up in dropout, so if the slew rate of the input coming up is not fast enough this could also contribute to overshoot.

    Regards,

    Nick
