TPS1H200A-Q1: What is the min time for tdl2?

Hi Experts,

My customer is considering to use TPS1H200-Q1. They want to shut off as soon as possible when over current event occurs. They use Latch-Off-Mode. The delay to latch off is defined in below which is tCL(deg) + tdl1 + tdl2.

tCL(deg) max is 550us and tdl1 max is 500us, total 1.05ms. tdl2 can be configured with external cap on DELAY pin. What is the min delay time and what is the capacitor at that time? They want to shorten within 10us so tld2 should be less than 9us. Is it OK only using below formula(2)?

Hi Uchikoshi-san,

Yes please use the formula to choose Cdelay. Also is it a typo of 10us total delay time? Did you mean 10ms?

Sorry, my question was incorrect. Customer wants to set tdl2 as small as possible. If they want tdl2 faster than 10us, C_Delay becomes as following.

Idl(chg) = 4.5uA

tdl2 = 10us

Vdl(ref) = 2.7V

Thus, Cdelay = 4.5u * 10u / 2.7 = 16pF

On the other hand, if DELAY pin is connected to GND pin directly, the device enters "Holding" mode. Customer wants to know the min capacitance of C_DELAY which distinguish LATCH mode or Holding mode.

Hi Uchikoshi-san,

There's no min cap, and customer can use any small caps. It won't be confused to the short-to-GND as no matter how small the cap is, the voltage at the pin will be charged instead of the 0 if you short-to-GND.
