TPS65218D0: About the setting of each pin

Part Number: TPS65218D0
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65218

Hello,

I would like to ask you about the TPS65218D0 device.

1. If PB is not used, is it okay to pull up the PB pin to IN_BIAS with 10kΩ?

2. If I don't use LS2, can I connect the IN_LS2 pin to ground and float the LS2 pin?
Is it okay for LS3 to do the same?

3. If I don't use GPO2, can the GPO2 pin be floating?

4. If GPIO3 is not used, is it okay to pull up the GPIO3 pin to IN_BIAS with 10kΩ?

5. The capacitor connected to the LDO1 pin is described as 22uFtyp as an electrical characteristic.
However, 10uF is described in the block diagram.
Although it is not specified in the electrical characteristics, is it okay to use 10uF?

6. To what voltage should the PGOOD pin and nINT pin be pulled up when not using an always-on power supply?
Can I pull up to 3.3V of DCDC4?

Best regards,

  • Hello,

I just wanted to inform you that we have seen your post and intend to get back with you sometime tomorrow. Thank you!

    Regards,

    Alex

  • Hi,

Thanks for reaching out! Here the recommended connections for TPS65218D0

    1. If PB is not used, is it okay to pull up the PB pin to IN_BIAS with 10kΩ?

If not used, PB can be pulled up to IN_BIAS but datasheet recommends using a 100kΩ resistor.

    2. If I don't use LS2, can I connect the IN_LS2 pin to ground and float the LS2 pin?
Is it okay for LS3 to do the same?

Yes, if LS2 and LS2 are not used the corresponding input pins can be grounded and their output pins floating.

    3. If I don't use GPO2, can the GPO2 pin be floating?

Yes, on TPS65218D0, GPIO2 is configured as push-pull by default and if not used it can be left floating.

    4. If GPIO3 is not used, is it okay to pull up the GPIO3 pin to IN_BIAS with 10kΩ

GPIO3 must be pulled up to either 1.8V or 3.3V with a 100k pull-up resistor.

    5. The capacitor connected to the LDO1 pin is described as 22uFtyp as an electrical characteristic.
However, 10uF is described in the block diagram.
Although it is not specified in the electrical characteristics, is it okay to use 10uF?

Yes, 22uF is the typical output capacitance for LDO1 but 10uF should be ok for the minimum capacitance. Please take into account the derating when choosing an output cap to make sure it doesn't fall below the minimum value. Just for your reference, this question was also answered on a pervious E2E (LINK).

    6. To what voltage should the PGOOD pin and nINT pin be pulled up when not using an always-on power supply?
Can I pull up to 3.3V of DCDC4?

PGOOD (pin# 8) and nINT (pin# 45) can be pulled up though a 100k pull-up resistor to the 1.8V or 3.3V supply that you are using as VIO.

    Thanks,

    Brenda
