TPS3420: TPS3420 vs TPS3421

Part Number: TPS3420
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS3421

Hello,

I'm looking at the differences between the TPS3420 and the TPS3421 and the primary difference seems to be the fixed RST on the TPS3421.  With the TPS3420, what would it take to switch to the TPS3421 and would it be functionally equivalent besides the 400ms delay?  Are there any other limitations switching to the TPS3421?

Thank you for the help!

  • Hi,

TPS3420 and TSP3421 have the same pinout but there are differences in electrical characteristics and functionality. I encourage you to review the entire datasheet:

    In summary:

The TPS3420 is a dual-channel device with an output that asserts when both inputs (PB1 and PB2) are held low for the push-button timer duration, and deasserts when either input PBx is released.

The TPS3421 is a dual-channel device with an output that asserts when both inputs (PB1 and PB2) are held low
for the push-button timer duration, and deasserts after the reset time-out duration.

    Thank you.
