TPS5403: Frequency Compensation Components Rc and Cc, Schottky Diode D

Part Number: TPS5403

Hi,

Good day.

Our customer is looking for a way to determine the components Rc, Cc, and D for the TPS5403. It seems that there's limited info provided on the datasheet. Can y please help u with this?

Their are using this device for Vin = 12V, Vout = 3.3V.

Thank you for your help.

Regards,

Cedrick

  • Hi Cedrick,

For the COMP setup, you can refer the "7.3.17 Small-Signal Model for Frequency Compensation" of TPS5433xA 4.5-V to 28-V Input, 3-A Output, Synchronous Step-Down DC-DC Converter datasheet (Rev. D) (ti.com.cn).

Regarding the diode, the selected diode must meet the absolute maximum ratings for the application. The reverse voltage must be higher than the maximum voltage at the PH/LX pin, which is VIN(MAX) + 0.5 V. Peak current must be greater than IO(MAX) plus on half the peak-to-peak inductor current. The forward-voltage drop should be small for higher
efficiencies. The catch diode conduction time is (typically) longer than the high-side FET on time, so attention paid to diode parameters can make a marked improvement in overall efficiency. Additionally, check that the selected device is capable of dissipating the power losses.
