Refer to Section 3 for the traditional way to implement this which should apply to both converter and controller solutions. 

The traditional method implements an amplifier circuit for output current to feedback voltage conversion.

Hi,

There doesn't appear to be any limitation on the conversion in the traditional method detailed in the app note/blog.

As such I think it is applicable for all buck converters/controllers so long as the circuit you implement follows recommended guidance detailed in the note.

I would suggest taking an EVM and verifying this design. 

Note that the external amplifier circuitry needed to convert to CC/CV topology is irrespectively of the internal FETs and internal compensation.
