I want to add an additional diode for the short-circuit fuse. However, it is not clear to me where exactly the diode should be installed. What is the dedicated pin?
Thank you a lot.

I do still have a question.
I have now built the circuit with the diode. Now I have made a short circuit from pin 5 (Vout) to pin 4 (VEE/GND). However, the component was destroyed. Can you tell me exactly what the diode is for? What exactly is the diode supposed to protect?
That's why we are here! Happy to help.
Unfortunately, the text is a little confusing. Our drivers do not have output short circuit protection of the VOUT terminal. If you short that to VCC or VEE, and then drive it low or high, the output will become permanently damaged.
The reason we talk about the diode and short-circuiting is if the output switch gets short-circuited. This can cause a large positive voltage transient on the gate, so we suggest in certain applications you apply an external diode to shunt that voltage to VCC.
I hope this is clear. Let me know if you have further questions, Tobias!
