BQ25896: Operating VIN compared to BQ24193

Part Number: BQ25896
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24193, , BQ25892

With the current sourcing situation we are looking for alternatives to BQ24193. Since we need an NVDC charger with JEITA compliance the number of TI options are somewhat limited.

Looking at BQ25896 (and BQ25892) they stand out in that they are close to pin compatible to BQ24193 and tick all the boxes. However, there is one parameter that currently would rule them out: they have a max operating VIN of 14V, while we need 16V. Out input voltage will be max 14.5V static, max 16V dynamic.

As they are in any other respect such a good fit, we wanted to ask about this:

- BQ2419x has a max operating VIN of 17V and an absolute max VIN of 22V.
- BQ2589x has a max operating VIN of 14V and an absolute max VIN of 22V.
- The parts from the two series appear very similar in general.

There is naturally some motivation behind specifiying BQ2589x lower (14V), but we could not tell the two input stages apart from the info we had so we still wanted to ask: Are the parts truly different, or could there simply be a difference in some definition based on when the parts where defined?
