LP87702-Q1: Exiting Thermal shutdown

Part Number: LP87702-Q1

Hi Team,

LP87702-Q1 enters Thermal shutdown when junction temperature exceeds around 150°C.

It can recover when junction temp gets below 20 degC thermal shutdown hysteresis.

Will DC/DC converters be automatically re-enables once  thermal shutdown hysteresis is "passed down"? Or shall  the register TDIE_SD_INT  be cleared first?

When enable pin stays high can the status of the TDIE_SD_INT register be used to check that thermal event has led to reset?

Piotr

  • Hello Piotr,

Thank you for reaching out, and happy holidays. Our engineering team currently has limited staffing now through January 3rd. We will provide feedback no later than January 7th.

    Regards,

    Alex

  • Hi Piotr,

TDIE_SD_INT interrupt must be cleared in order to re-enable the regulators. The regulators cannot be enabled if TDIE_SD_INT bit is high.

TDIE_SD_INT is latched bit so it will stay high even if the temperature has dropped to safe levels. It can be read to check if a thermal shutdown has happened.

    Best regards,

    Samuli Piispanen
