Dear Sir/Ms.

My customer’s Bluetooth remote controller wants to add a power measurement function to his arkline battery(AA/AAA Battery). I see that TIDA-01236 has a similar function. I would like to ask if BQ35100 is suitable? Is there a more suitable Gas Gauge IC? would you please give me some advice?

The voltage of a AA/AAA battery is too low for bq35100 operation. It should be possible to use bq35100 if the cells in series provide a high enough voltage.

I had discussed with our customer. They not decide 1S1P or 2s1P. Do we have 1S1P AA/AAA battery gas gauge solution?

Hello Kami,

I don't think there is a 1S solution for AA alkaline. 2S may work depending on the terminate voltage requirement.

Would you please tell me more detail about 2S terminate voltage requirement? Is it means TI have other Gas Gauge IC for 2S AA alkaline.

Hello Kami,

Terminate voltage is the minimum voltage required for your system to work.

The minimum operating voltage for bq35100 is 2.7V, so you can use it if your system does not need to work below this voltage. Your system may continue to use the battery below 2.7V, but the gauge may not communicate below this voltage.
