BQ40Z50EVM-561: FET TEMPERATURE

Dear TI expert,

Presently i am doing the initial Testing stage of BQ40Z50EVM with Resistances as cell simulators.presently i am in the temperature setting. I have a doubt about FET temperature. Actually FET temperature indicates which FETs (CHG or DSG or PCHG or other)in the PCB. Also in Temperature mode register which is best for the FET temperature Measurement.

Hello Muhammed,

The FET temperature still needs to use the thermistor inputs. You configure which TS pins are used for the FET vs the Cell temperatures.

Hello Muhammed,

The FET temperature would most likely need to use the external thermistors in order to report accurately. The internal temperature will most likely not be representative of the FET temperature even if they are in close proximity.

You can select and place the thermistor near which FETs are a concern for you.

Dear Wyatt,

Is it External thermistors are connected with the particular cell in the battery banks(1-4S). So, How External thermistor used for the measurment of internal FET Tempreature .

Hello Muhammed,

I'm not sure I understand your question, the gauge does not have internal FETs that control charge/discharge current, the FETs are external, the gauge only drives them. These are the FET temperatures we are concerned with since they can handle large amounts of current. So the external thermistor would be placed near to the CHG/DSG FETs.
