TLC59582: How to regulate current to LED Channels, Datasheet Ambiguity

Part Number: TLC59582

The section of the datasheet describing the role of the "IREF" pin is unclear on how to choose a resistor to regulate current to the LEDs.

The entry for the IREF pin states that an external resistor should be chosen to regulate current, but no relationship between the resistor and the current limitation is given. The amendment (1) references a formula that describes the current deviation of each output, but does not state how the resistor chosen affects regulated current.

Can you please clarify how to choose a resistor to limit current?

  • Hi Bradley Weigand,

please refer to the page 18 on the datasheet which provides the detailed design formulas between resistor and channel current.
