TL4050A vs LM4050-N: Are they manufactured with different requirements?

Hi Experts,

We would like to ask your assistance on this query from a client as per this thread's title.

There is a customer who has been using the LM4050AIM3-2.5/NOPB (from National Semicon) part for years but turns out to be out of stock, planning to use TL4050A25QDBZR as an alternative. We would like to know their compatibility as THIS post makes this option uncertain? Our review of the datasheet only shows Thermal differences slightly.

Are these two parts manufactured to different requirements?

These devices are functionally equivalent but there are specification differences. Below is a high level summary. However I do encourage you to review both data sheets in details for your particular design.

As an outsider, it looks to me that the other user had specific radiation hardness requirements. If the application isn’t radiation-sensitive, then the referenced post doesn’t really apply.
