TPS92638-Q1: how to select Fault pin pull high resisgor ?

Part Number: TPS92638-Q1

Hi

how to select Fault pin pull high resisgor ? we would like to implement failing strings turned off, other CHs on function. thanks!

  • Hi PY,

It is important to know the voltage range to which you will pull-up the FAULT pin. When the pull-up resistor is too high, the voltage on the FAULT pin will stay below V(IH). On the other hand, when the pull-up resistor is too small, the voltage on the FAULT pin could become too high when the supply voltage is too high. I will email you an example calculation.

  • Hi PY,

As you can see from the table above, Fault pin needs to be externally pulled high which means the pull-up resistor needs to guarantee the pull-up current >I(pull-down)=1000uA.

And Ben's example shows the consideration on the voltage on Fault pin. You may refer to that based on the principle above.

    BR, Gracie
