TPS92641EVM: Questions for the OVP and UVP setting in EVM

Part Number: TPS92641EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS92641

hi,

from TPS92641 EVM below,

https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/slvu823

we get the setting below.

Vin= 43 - 53V

Vturn_on=40.5V

Vhys = 15.5V

Vovp=48.9V

VLED=40V

Question 1:

Vturn_off(40.5-15.5)=25V

Vin must lower than 25V to turn off tps92641, but the VLED is 40V. Why does EVM set this value?

question 2:

Vin,max is 53V but Vovp is 48.9V. Is the setting too close to Vin,max and it may never trigger OVP?

BR,

frank

  • Hi Frank,

    Q1: It's not recommended to use the default resistor value when using UDIM pin for UVLO and PWM concurrently and >3V is better for hysteresis set.

    Q2: (48.9+0.7)/53=94% Normally, TPS92641 can't reach such larger duty cycle.
