UCC12050: Using the EN pin to turn the output on and off

Part Number: UCC12050

Hello

The EVM datasheet [SLUUBD5C – SEPTEMBER 2019 – REVISED JUNE 2021] recommends:

"

4.1
Pin Functions
...

EN

Active-high enable input. Connect EN to GNDP to disable the device. Connect EN to VINP to enable
the device.docato-extra-info-title EN must be in the desired state (enabled/disabled) prior to power
up. Switching the state of EN while the EVM is powered on may result in undesirable performance.

"

There is no warming of "undesirable performance" on the UCC12050  datasheet. I want to use EN to periodically and infrequently disable the output VISO supply. It doesn't matter if the device then takes hundreds of milliseconds to restart the VISO output.

Is the extra note on the EVM relevant to using the UCC12050 in my application ?

All the best
Harry
