TPS63020: Heating too much and do not work

Hello Sir ,

This is regarding the heating issue of the buck boost convertor (TPS63020) which we are using in our PCB . During testing of our PCB we found that after some time the buck boost convertor heated too much up to 90 degree Celsius and then stopped working and after this the input capacitors C2,C3 and C7 (please see schematic) were shorted to ground and output of TPS63020 was fluctuating between 4.2 to 3.3 (which we have set to 3.9v). We are giving 5v 2A DC to our device and it uses current up to 1A typically . Please see the below schematic (we have changed R4 to 154k to get 3.9v as output ) and provide urgent support regarding this as this problem repeating and our 4 to 5 testing boards are damaged due to this

Hi,

Did you have a long cable between DC source and your PCBA?

i am afraid there are some high spikes caused by this cable and damaged your devise finally.

No sir I am using USB to make it ON , and the input I am using a different header and proper zener and schottkey diodes . Please confirm that Pins specially (Vin ,VinA ,EN , PS on the input side ) are the PS and EN are in a good state

Got it, so could you help to share your PCB layout?

The higher the output current, the more likely it will damage the chip？

Sir , I asked my seniors about this but due to our company Policy , I will not be able to share the layout . I request you to take a session on skype or google meet so that I can properly tell you the problem and share my screen with layout and schematic so that we can solve the problem please sir

it si better if you can schedule a Webex meeting.

i think the probability of chip damage will be reduced if we swap the output cap to a much smaller one(may be 10uF) and without any load. coulf you help to have a try?
