TPS92390: Vout higher than 48V

Part Number: TPS92390
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS92391

If Vin is 24V and assuming that LED string short-circuit is not possible, is it possible to have Vout higher than 48V, e.g. up to 70V? Same question for TPS92391.

  • hi Igor

For the Vout pin, the max voltage rating is 52V, which can be found in the datasheet. Voltage higher than this value may destroy the device. Also it is not recommended to operate at 52V as some margin should be considered.

  • There is no Vout pin. This is net name for the net where output voltage is. Therefore your comment does not apply. As far as I can tell the only critical situation is short-circuit on LED string because then Vout is applied to OUT1-4, which do have 52V absolute maximum limit. Nevertheless, if such condition is not possible, it seems that Vout can be above 52V, e.g. 70V. Correct?

  • Hi Igor

Sorry for the statement. I agree with you that if short circuit condition is not taken into consideration, then the operation above 52V is ok.
