TPS54821: Current limit conditions

Part Number: TPS54821

Hi support team,

There is an inrush current of 9.2A on the output side at startup.
The calculation of the peak current and valley current of the inductor is as follows.

Peak current : 10.2A
Valley current : 8.2A

The peak current is less than 10.5A of "MIN" of "High-side switch current limit threshold".
The valley current is less than 9.5A of "MIN" of "Low-side switch sourcing current limit".

If both of these are met, will the current limit not be activated?

Regards,
Dice-K

  • Hi Dice-K,

The inrush current 9.2A (average of the inrush current) didn't trigger current limit since both peak and valley current are less than min value.

The table's current limit min and max cover the process/part to part variation. So for a specific part, although both of the min value are met, the current limit of this part may still not be activated.

    Thanks,

    Lishuang
