TPS62150A-Q1: dynamic current limit

Genius 4780 points
Part Number: TPS62150A-Q1

Our customer is considering to use TPS62150A-Q1.

They have a question about dynamic current limit.

There is following description in datasheet P11.

-----------------------

The current limit can exceed static values, especially if the input voltage is high and very small inductances are used.

----------------------

Please let me know if there is a value such as "input voltage is high" is more than ?V and "very small inductances" is less than ?H.

They are using this at following condition.

input voltage: 5V inductance: 1.5uH

Regards,

Kura

  • Hi Kura,

The description in page 11 just lets you aware of the actual current limit value will be higher than the value specified in datasheet electrical characteristics table. The reason is due to internal propagation delay. (VIN-VOUT)*30ns/L is big when L is lower and Vin is higher. This won't affect normal operation and performance.

It is no problem with your application 5Vin and 1.5uH inductor.

    Hope this helps,

    Thanks,

    Nancy
