Hey Charles,

Regarding screw torque spec for a TO-220 package, I don’t believe we have one. The only guidance I’ve found out there is 3 to 6 in-lbs or 80 N-cm as a ‘recommended’ starting point and the maximum torque force depends on the size of screw and the material.

I think from TI’s point of view as long as thermal considerations are met and no damage is imparted to the device, then its to the customer’s discretion as to how they wish to mount the device to their PCB.
