LM7800: Can LM7805 be used for negative voltage generation?

Part Number: LM7800

Hello guys,

One of my customers is considering using LM7805 for their new products.

They have the following questions at this moment. Could you please give me your reply for them?

Q1. They want to use LM7805(positive 5V linear regulator) for negative voltage generation using like the schematic on page 24 of the following datasheet.

       KA78XXE datasheet

       https://www.mouser.jp/datasheet/2/308/1/fairchild_semiconductor_ka7805ae-1191496.pdf

Q2. If the answer for Q1 is no, does TI have any other positive linear regulator device which can generate negative voltage with the schematic?

Your reply would be much appreciated.

Best regards,

Kazuya.
