Hi,

I like to compute the power dissipation of TPS61170 to ensure the temperature rise . (MOSFET and current sense resistors are embedded into the device). Could you please provide the formula and required data to compute. I am using this device for boost converter. Below are the data used in our boost converter, However, is it possible to give relation or variation with respect to output current ? Because, Vin and Vo will remain same but, there will be a change in Io in future.

Vin : Min=5V; Typ=6V; Max=7V

Vo : Min=11V; Typ=12V; Max=13V

Io : 150mA Max

Hi,

Thanks for reaching out on E2E. Could you simulate the working condition on Webench? It is also easy and convenient to change working condition on Webench. But the calculation of power dissipation is not very accurate, please leave some margin for it. The more accurate method is directly test power dissipation by experiment based on EVM.

Hi,

For typ condition, when Io=0.15A, the IC loss is around 70mW, when Io=0.2A, the IC loss is around 90mW; when Io=0.3A, the IC loss is around 140mW. It is just a rough estimate, please leave some margin for the design.
