We are designing DC to DC converter using UCC3895 . Input is 24VDC and Output is 12VDC (5A current). We need to know that is Current transformer at the primary side is required for our design or not. Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Generally when I design power supplies I use off the shelf current transformers for Wurth, Pulse or Vitec. However, if you were design your own, you can figure out the turns ratio with the following equations.

Vp/Vs = Np/Ns = Is/Ip

You are designing for a 2 V current sense signal max.

Ip*Np/Ns = Is

2V/Rsense = Isecondary
