hi there,

my customer want to use BQ24640 as a supercap charger, and the charger current will be set in 16A. the BQ24620 EVM is only 10A (max). so could we modification Rsense and Iset pin to meet 16A charge current. Is that any concern of BQ24640 max charger current? thank you.

Hello,

This charge controller has a maximum charge current of 10 A. This is on the datasheet and the product page. We have not tested nor can guarantee operation beyond 10 A. The hard limit is 100 mV across the sense resistor, however my previous statement still applies.

Hello,

Please check out the BQ2573x and the BQ2572x. These charge controllers support up to 16.2 A of charge current.

Hi Mike,

For BQ25731, if we want to work in buck mode. could we remove Q3, Q4 and floating LODRV2, HIDRV2? Thanks.

The answer is no. The buck-boost battery charge controller needs to utilize all four switches during startup.
