WEBENCH-POWER-DESIGNER: How to change the external FET from a single FET to dual FET in parallel?

Webench support team,

I can't get a simulation result due to the specification limitation of the external FET used in Webench-Power-Designer. The below is an error message.

How can I change the FET configuration from a single FET to Dual FET in parallel?

My simulation device is TPS51916. The simulation condition is follows.

Input Voltage = 9V - 18V
Output Voltage = 1.1V
Output Current = 20A
Ta=30degC

Hi Tamio-san,

Currently device TPS51916 doesn't support the feature to select Dual /Ideal FET. We shall add the feature to select Ideal/Dual FET.

This might take some time for implementation ,we shall keep you updated on the same.

Hi Tamio-san,

We have added the feature to select Ideal/Dual FET in device TPS51916.
The fix is currently on internal WEBENCH server and will be available on ti.com by next WEBENCH release(tentatively by 8th April).
We shall keep you updated on the same.

Hi, Umayal,

I confirmed WEBENCH under the same condition as the previous. The same error was not shown, but I can't change the quantity of MOSFET.

You have said that "We have added the feature to select Ideal/Dual FET in device TPS51916" in previous this thread. Please teach me how to select dual MOSFET. I can't see the Dual MOSFET in the alternative parts list.

Hi Tamio-san,

Sorry for the confusion. The WEBENCH doesn't provide explicitly option to user to select the quantity of MOSFETs. However it automatically select the quantity of FET based on the suitable FET it gets for given input/output conditions.. It also creates the alternate part list with all suitable FETs.

Currently, the WEBENCH algorithm is designed such that it looks for the FETs with quantity one, If suitable FET doesn't find, WEBENCH looks for Dual/parallel FETs. There may be conditions where alternative part list contains the combined list of FETs with quantity one and two.
