Hi team,

  1. What A is OCP of HSFET?
  2. regarding recommended operating conditions,
    1. Isw=1.8A is including ripple, peak current considered?
    2. IVBUS=3.2V, but if supposes VIN=5V, VSYS=3V, efficiency is 90%, at Isw=1.8V, Iin should be 1.55A not reaching to 3.2A.
    3. When OTG mode, what's current limit for PMID? (Isys_OCP_Q4=5A min?)
  3. When OTG, is BATFET(Q4) fully on at NOT OCP region? if Ichg is set to some, should be limited by Ichg?
  4.  Power up REGN LDO section discribed "After 220-ms" delay is completed", but cutomer bench test results 40ms. 220ms is worst case supposed?
  5. Regarding boost mode operation, is it possible to operate in PFM and Vbatt even over than 3.5V?

Best Regards, NY

  • NY,

    1. The HSFET overcurrent limit is for fault conditions only. The OCP threshold is high enough not to interfere with normal 1.5A operations.

    2. The device is a 1.5-A battery charger. 1.5A does not include the inductor current ripples.

    3. In OTG mode, the device will not charge and the battery discharges. BATFET should be on if no fault and BATFET is enabled.

    4. The 220-ms for REGN LDO powering up when VBUS plugs in, not for OTG mode.

    5. PFM operation is mainly for light load operations. It depends on the load current, but not the voltage.

    Thanks,

    Ning.

  • Hi NIng, thanks your answer. but customer didn't satisfy your answer.

    1. So, specifically what A does overcurrent limit operation?
    2. what the condition is IVBUS=3.2A?
    3. When boost mode, What A does current limit of PMID operate?
    4. Does Ron of BATFET depend on Ichg setting?

    Best Regards, ny

  • Hi NY,

We did not publish some spec for chargers in one family for various reasons including marketing, competition and IP etc. May we know the reasons that the customers want the spec and operation 1, 3, 4?

    1. The HSFET OCP spec is high enough and mainly to protect the integrated FETs. The 1.5A is not limited by the HSFET OCP.

    2. You are right that the IVBUS would not reach 3.2A. This spec should be inherited from the same family. The input can sustain the 3.2A, but will not reach this level for the 1.5A charger.

    3. Similar to 1, the LSFET OCP spec is also high enough and mainly to protect the integrated FETs. This is not an effective to protect PMID overcurrent. External accurate protection circuit is suggested.

    4. Could you please advise why customer cares whether the BATFET Ron changes with the ICHG?

    Best regards,

    Eric
