UCC27524A: Driving paralleled MOSFETs

Part Number: UCC27524A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC27614, UCC27624

Hi Team,

There are 3 PFC MOSFETs(IPL60R065P7) in parallel in my customer's desgin, my customer has tried using one UCC27524A to drive these 3 MOSFETs, but the driving capability seems not enough.

Does TI have gate driver with higher drving capability? Or is it possible to use 2 gate drviers to drive 3 paralleled MOSFETs?

Regards,

  • Hi Charles,

    Thanks for reaching out!

    -------

You have a couple options here:

    1. Parallel the outputs of the dual channel driver (I do not suggest this as you might as well use a stronger, single channel driver).
    2. We have recently released the UCC27614, which has 10A source and 10A sink!!
      1. It is currently offered in the DSG package, but will be offered in a SOIC (D package) within a couple weeks.

I would suggest using the UCC27614.  If your customer needs help with a quick layout / schematic review, please let me know.

Also, the UCC27524A has a new generation part that has replaced it, which is also more robust with higher voltage ratings, etc; the UCC27624.

I hope this helps!  If I answered your question, please press the green button, otherwise please feel free to follow up!

    Thanks,
