TPS7A85: TPS7A85 die has 8300 on it

Hi,

I am looking at a TPS7A85 which is supposed to deliver up to 4A output. I see a die that is marked with 8300 which from my understanding only delivers 2A of output.

Is this normal? I was told TI uses the same die and tweeks the package to get more amperage out of the 8500.

Hey Joe,

Can you take a picture of the die number and package where you are seeing this? If you ordered the TPS7A85 and we can confirm that this is authentic TI part, then it will be capable to specs given in the datasheet.

this is the device, the package markings say its an 8500, the die says 8300

Hey Joe,

Yes, these are the same dies, but the packages are programmed differently with different test programs. Additionally, these do look like authentic Texas instrument TPS7A85 parts. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
