BQ25050: Battery Under Voltage Lockout

Part Number: BQ25050
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25180, BQ25155, BQ2970

When using the external Power Path Control feature.

When there is no input and the system is running off the Battery through Qbat.

Will the BQ25050 disable the FET when the Battery voltage gets low?  At what battery voltage will this occur if it does?  If it does not, can you recommend a part that will disable the battery from the system before damage occurs to the Lithium battery?

  • Hi Paul,

I checked the recommended circuit and since there is a body diode on the PFET, without adapter, the BAT to OUT path is not isolated. You could use a device like BQ25180, BQ25155 which have an internal protection for both overcurrent and undervoltage.

We also have devices from the protector family such as BQ2970.
