BQ25071-Q1: difference between BQ25071 and BQ25071-Q1

Part Number: BQ25071-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25071, , BQ25171-Q1, BQ25170

1. There are differences in the SPEC values for some items in the datasheet.
    Is this the difference because the Q1 product has a wider operating temperature range?

2. What is the reason why TDGL (NO-IN) is not listed in the BQ25071 data sheet?

<BQ25071>

<BQ25071-Q1>

3. The BQ25071-Q1 data sheet mentions 8.4.3 Sleep Mode, but why isn't it in the BQ25071 data sheet?

4. Why are the Power Supply Recommendations so different?

<BQ25071>

<BQ25071-Q1>

  • Hello Kagawa

    I am looking into the questions and will update you later tonight or tomorrow  morning.

  • Hello Kagawa

    Recommend taking a look at our newer LiFePO4 charger BQ24171-Q1.  The charging profile for this device is friendlier to current generation of batteries.

    Also are you interested in using the BQ25071 or BQ25071-Q1 for your design?

    1. There are differences in the SPEC values for some items in the datasheet.
        Is this the difference because the Q1 product has a wider operating temperature range? --Bill J -- Yes, many of the changes between and automotive device and commercial temp range is driven by expanded temp range.  The BQ25071 is characterized 0C to 125C vs -40C to 125C for the Q1 device.

    2. What is the reason why TDGL (NO-IN) is not listed in the BQ25071 data sheet? --Bill J -- Looking into this.  But do you need this spec for BQ25071?

    3. The BQ25071-Q1 data sheet mentions 8.4.3 Sleep Mode, but why isn't it in the BQ25071 data sheet? -- Bill J -- Looking into this, suspect it is present but not explained.

    4. Why are the Power Supply Recommendations so different? -- Bill J -- Suspect this is connected to the expanded sleep explanation. Will look into it and update you.

  • Hello Bill-san,

    Thank you for your answer.

    Also are you interested in using the BQ25071 or BQ25071-Q1 for your design?
    -->
    Currently, BQ25071-Q1 is out of stock, so we are looking for an alternative product.
    Most of the Q1 products are out of stock, so I'm looking for something other than the Q1 products.
    Do you have a recommended product?

    Regards,
    Kagawa

  • Hi Kagawa-san

    A couple of newer devices to look at that will support LiFePO4 battery.

    1.) BQ25171-Q1 -- Mult Chemistry Automotive grade charger.

    2.) BQ25170 -- Single Cell Li-Ion and LiFePO4, commercial grade

  • Hi Bill-san,

    Is it correct to understand that the only difference between bq25071 and bq25071-Q1 is the difference in the inspection process?

    Regards,
    Kagawa

  • Hi Kagawa-san

    I am still checking on this, but everything at this time points to this.
