I ordered samples of the new LMR51420 and tested them. These are obviously PFM versions. I would like to test the LMR51420 with an output transformer to obtain an isolated (but unregulated) output voltage. (For this, the inductor of the schematic is replaced by a transformer. The down-scaled primary-side voltage is sent to the FB pin. The transformer's secondary-coil's signal is fed in reverse order to a diode and a C to rectify the output voltage. For this application a forced PWM-mode is required, as the primary side is mostly working under light-load conditions. With the PFM version of the chip, I can't get enough power to the secondary side.
