UCC27714: 100% Duty Cycle - 200V - 10kHz Operation

Part Number: UCC27714
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN6505B, UCC14240-Q1, UCC25800

Hi Team,

Can you please advise with following request?

"

I was interested in this product because it can drive a 600V switch. I need a half bridge driver that can drive over 200V. However, I had to give up because I realized that it could not work at 100% duty cycle since the bootstrap structure was used in the product. I plan to continue with the product of a different company. In our application, switching will be made in the range of 200V-0V and it should be able to operate in the frequency range of DC to 10kHz. It is important to provide DC voltage (100% duty cycle) indefinitely. If you have such a product, I would like to review it.
However, if there is a chip with dead-time feature, it will be superior to the product of the other company I mentioned. dead-time can be configurable or if it is fixed, it should be <1us.

"

Thanks in advance

Best Regards

  • Hello Furkan,

The UCC27714 high side driver can operation in a DC operating condition but you are correct that with a bootstrap method for the high side floating bias the DC operation is not possible. You can use a floating high side bias solution such as SN6505b, UCC25800, or UCC14240-Q1 to generate a floating high side bias.

Also there is an application note which shows a solution for using half bridge drivers as high side switches, the note can be found below.

Regarding your question on a device with the dead time feature, are you asking if we have a driver with a dedicated floating high side bias feature included and also a dead time feature? At this time, we do not have both functions within our gate drivers. There may be other TI product lines which have these features, such as PSIL.
