LM74700-Q1: LM74700 output inductor

Part Number: LM74700-Q1

Hi team,

1.Why would the customer add 2.7uH at the output ?  filtering?

And would this affect the output cap value?

2.what's the advantage of ORring compare to efuse or hot swap?

Regards,

Fred

  • Hi Fred,

    1. Yes, an inductor and capacitor is added to the output to serve as an EMI filter. The output capacitor values (2200uF in above use-case) required for the purposes of filtering or bulk hold-up for downstream load, are supported by LM74700-Q1.

    2. ORing controllers are used for reverse current blocking when multiple power supplies are used to feed the same load, so that if the voltage output of one of the supplies drops, reverse current does not flow from the output into the lower voltage supply. On the other hand, the primary purpose of e-fuses and hot swap controllers is to protect against over-current and other transients, while may not necessarily include reverse current blocking.

    Thanks and regards
