LMR36506: LMR36506 Output Voltage Setting

Part Number: LMR36506
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMR54406, LMR33610

Hello TI,

we want to convert 14V input voltage to 1V output voltage using LMR36506 (LMR36506RRPER, adjustable fsw, PFM mode). The output load can vary between 40 mA and 100 mA.

Theoretically this is possible by connecting the output directly to the FB input without any divider.

Could this solution work or should be avoided because of possible problems like instability or other issues?

Best Regards

Bela Geller

  • Hello

The LMR36506 may work, but I think that stability may be an issue.  You may need much more output capacitance

than you would for a typical application.

Please use the TI Webench tool to design the regulator for this application.

You may also want to look at the LMR54406 or LMR33610.

Once you have decided on the regulator design, the best thing to do is to get a TI EVM for that device and test it out under the actual customer application conditions.

    Thanks
