LM2941: The output voltage is low

Part Number: LM2941

Hi Team,

Our customer built some products using LM2941SX/NOPB. Some devices are not producing the expected output and thus the customer has to make adjustments to the design of the boards that were failing to make the circuit provide the desired output voltage of 12V. Here are the output voltage of the good and failed devices.

U10- Pin 5 (Failing unit) voltage range adjusted by R241 11.10V – 11.87V
U10- Pin 5 (Passing Unit) Voltage range adjusted by R241 11.67 – 11.98

Please see attached schematic diagram.

The output voltage error seems to be due to the potentiometer R241. Can you please confirm?

Regards,

Danilo

  • Hi Danilo,

What is the actual value this potentiometer is set to?

To stay within the acceptable value, the range for the potentiometer must be ~35Ohms to 85 Ohms, in which some cases, depending on the potentiometer used, its hard to maintain the range. One way to avoid this is to remove the pot and leave the 2.49k resistor in place, this will provide ~12.028 V.

    Best,
