Customer is looking for high-density 60W IC Solution!

spec:

Vin 90V~264V

Vo 12V 5A

1. Please help suggest TI solution, THX

2.UCC28740 is a good solution? I have run WEBENCH but the eff only 78%

Hello,

What is your efficiency specifications?

The design you did was for a standard output rectifier. You increase the efficiency by using a synchronous rectifier FET by 3 to 5 W. This would improve the efficiency by 5 to to 8%. You could use the UCC24612 SR driver with the UCC28740 to accomplish this. It would bring the efficiency up to 81 to 85%.

If they need higher efficiency than what the UCC28740 and UCC24612 can achieve than the UCC28782 or UCC28781 with zero voltage switching could achieve.

Hello,

The UCC28740 has an internal JFET startup circuit where the UCC28742 requires a trickle charge resistor for startup.

Both device s are used but the UCC28742 is cheaper because it does not have the internal JFET startup circuit.
