TPS65217: SYS output error

Part Number: TPS65217

AC Vin =5V, now SYS output 0.8V, please help to check the schematic diagram, my question is

1. If BAT has no battery, can it be suspended?

2. Does the charger, as a path-managed MOSFET, automatically disconnect when it detects no battery and turn on when it does? Is it possible to control the MOSFET externally?

  • Hello,

Thank You for using E2E! In order to provide technical support, I will need a power-up scope capture of the following signals: AC, SYS, PWR_EN and VLDO1. Additionally, I have identified several items in the schematic that do not meet the our recommended connections. Please review the schematic checklist to make the necessary improvements. Here is the link: TPS65217x Schematic Checklist (Rev. C)

I also recommend reviewing the Brownout document (Designing Robust TPS65217 Systems for VIN Brownout) which will describe the necessary connections for AC, SYS, USB and BAT pins when using TPS65217 on applications that do not require a battery. Solution circuit#2 in page#9 seems to be the one that matches your use case.

    Thanks,

    Brenda
