LM3658: LN3658 not fully charging the battery

Part Number: LM3658

Dear TI Team,

We are also facing similar problem. Our Li-Ion battery is not getting fully charged to 4.2V. What can be the problem?

In the similar problem in the E2E thread, they have solved the issue. But I am not able to understand what change was done to resolve the issue.

Thanks and regards,

Paul

  • Hi Paul,

Do you have a schematic we can take a look at? The post that is shared is regarding a SuperCap being used as a battery. Since you've mentioned that you're using a Li-Ion battery, it may not apply.

In the post with the SuperCap, it doesn't look like the original poster shared what was different I believe only stating in one of the replies that they started to see 4.0 to 4.2V on the BAT pin.

  • Here is the schematic section Anthony P Pham. Thank you for your support.

Apologies for the delay in posting.

  • Hi Paul,

Can you share what you see on the stat pins? Are you able to measure the current going into the battery and the voltage?

Looking at your schematic, it looks like you have the CHG_IN pin and the USBpwr pins shorted. This is not the intended use as those are both power inputs with one being USB while the other is adapter. Are you able to change this?

How long is it that the charger is being run? What is the capacity of the battery? Does the battery seem to charge

    Best Regards,

    Anthony Pham
