TPSM5601R5: Actual output power

Part Number: TPSM5601R5

Hi Team,

Can you clarify what the actual output power of this device is, please?

The Buck modules of the TPSM5601R5 have an output power of 18W in the data sheet at the top of the features.
The current rating is max.1.5A (Limit_1.9A) and the output voltage range is 1~6V.
I would need to know which of these is true. My guess is that it is 9.6W output, as with other modules in this series.
For the modules with output voltages up to 16V, the power rating would be O.K. as the maximum value for the module.
Possibly it is only a printing error or a faulty takeover from a data sheet of a 9.6W module.

Thank you,

Franz

  • Hi Frank,

As you stated the device is only capable of outputting ~9.6W, as that's the maximum of the V * I equation for power. I believe the engineer who was writing this datasheet was declaring that the thermal package is capable of dissipating 18W of power. He must have carried over this line from another product in the family.

Let me know if that answers your question.

    Thanks,

    Andrew
