It is with the greatest dismay that we are obligated to inform and seek review from the highest levels of TI on the observation that a lot of inventory of TI ICs have been - will not say "perhaps" here- hijacked by unscrupulous, hitherto unknown, and well-known distributors and others both in the US and certainly in HK and China.
LM5017- "out of stock " in every channel( including TI !) which go for $2 range in 1000 quantities are under "RFQ" and they quote 56/2 or 28 x price! From inventories of 100k
There are many such scalpers out there.
It is a regretable situation- definitely under the scorching heat of " chip shortage" ... which is definitely not the case.
They have been hoarded up for scalping.
Every other part we took yrs to design in from TI- are in this situation.
Should be users not refuse to buy from such scalpers., do so en mass, to foil their destructive attempts to destroy a whole lot of companies in the industry?
As we write this, we were forced to redesign at a considerable effort of $ and time from another vendor whose similar parts are less effective but available in 10k+ at the regular prices/delivery.
What is your position?
How did they hijack entire inventories?
Why does it not happen in regular times? Where do these people get sudden risk funds to do so?
Isn't there a gate to check who is buying suddenly huge inventories?
If there is not any now, should it not be put in practice?
Waiting eagerly to hear you!
