TPS7B82-Q1: Alternatives to TPS7A6633

Part Number: TPS7B82-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A66-Q1

Hi Experts,

Our customer intends to use TPS7B8233QDGNRQ1 as an alternative for TPS7A6633.
His concern is that they have doubts and they need confirmation about the connection of the GND pins 4,5 and 6. By their design pins 4 and 6 are not connected, but the TPS7B8233QDGNRQ1 needs GND in pins 4 and 6. Are pin 4, 5 and 6 internally connected in such a way the GND connected to pin 5 is also internally connected to pins 4 and 6? If yes, does it mean that connecing only pin 5 to GND is ok leaving pin 4 and pin 6 unconnected?
We will wait for your confirmation. Thank you.

Kind regards,
Gerald

  • Hello Gerald,

Pin 4 of TPS7B82-Q1 device is its actual ground pin and it has to be connected to GND. It cannot be left floating. In my opinion the simplest solution would be to replace the cap connected between CT pin (pin 4 of TPS7A66-Q1) and GND, with a jumper/0Ω resistor for using TPS7B82-Q1 as an alternative to TPS7A66-Q1. Thanks!
