LM5180: Can I source current into the RSET pin/resistor to lower the output voltage?

Part Number: LM5180
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA280

I am trying to regulate the maximum input current of a flyback converter using the LM5180.  I am measuring the input current with an INA280 and comparing it to a reference with an opamp.  Can I drive the SET pin from the opamp output through a resistor/diode to regulate the input current?  This will require sourcing current into the SET pin/resistor to lower the output voltage.

Thanks,

David

  • Hello

The Rset resistor sets a typical current of about 100uA.  I would not vary too much from that value.

Since we have not tested the kind of application that you are suggesting, it would be good for you to

test this with the EVM for this regulator before you commit to a production design.

    Thanks
