TPS40210-Q1: PSpice Simulation Transient Model Start-up error

Part Number: TPS40210-Q1

Dear all,

I've been working on a SEPIC project and I have been using PSpice for TI normally for over a month, only until yesterday, all of a sudden, it started to not work properly.

I wanted to simulated the start-up of a 15V SEPIC as I have done over a hundred times before, but it was shutdown abnormally.

I have tried to restart the application and even the computer, and I came back to the office after a day and it still doesn't work as it used to.

Figure 1 to 3 are some screenshots you may find useful.

Figure 1 - 15V 0.3A SEPIC circuit with 13.5V Vin

Figure 2 - Simulation from a few days ago where the output voltage (red) climbs up and settled at the target 15V

Figure 3 -  Simulation from this morning (similar to last evening) where the output voltage (red) climbs up only half way and the entire system started to shutdown in a transient manner

I have also checked all other components and their values should all be within normal operating ranges. I am glad to provide a detailed component list if that would be more useful, but I haven't changed the values much between the normal and the abnormal simulations.

Your swift response will make my day.

Cheers,

Hubert

  • Hi Hubert,

thank you for using the E2E forum.

Can you probe the following signals:

DIS/EN pin to ensure the device does not get disabled.

SS pin to ensure the softstart does properly ramp up. Also and detected error (overcurrent) could be seen here when softstart gets low again.

INSN to see if there is an current issue.

If this does not solve the problem, can you share your whole PSpice project. So would be able to directly look into the setup.

    Best regards,

     Stefan

  • Hi Hubert,

I have not seen an update on this thread for the last 12 days.
So I assume the issue is solved.
In this case it would be great to press the is solved button.

If there is still something open, just let me know with the new details.

    Best regards,
     Stefan
