TPS61220: Design requirements: AA -> AAA okay too?

Hi Team,

As design requirements the datasheet of the device lists 2x AA alkaline cells. I assume this is due to the voltage. So 2x AAA should work as well. Is this assumption correct or does it have to be AA?

Also do you have any EMI measurements and experience with the device?

Hi Franz,

Two AA alkaline cells will have voltage of 3V. TPS61220 can output up to 60mA without triggering input current limit. If you have your input voltage higher than 3V, it should work for 5V/60mA.

For EMI designs, TPS61220 works same to other boost converters. You can refer to below app notes about it. Thanks!
