TPS61175: Load issue

Part Number: TPS61175

We built a circuit for converting 12V to 24V using TPS61175. The schematic of the same can seen below.

When we are trying to load the converter with DC fan at 24V the input power supply is going to CC at 3V . But when converter is turned on no load and when we connect fan directly the output voltage drops to 20V and fan is running at low speed.

Kindly suggest us how to move forward

  • Hi Sanjay,

Thanks for reaching out on E2E. I have a doubt about your question:

what does "When we are trying to load the converter with DC fan at 24V the input power supply is going to CC at 3V ." mean? what is he input power supply? I think the supply should be stable at 12V. Thanks.

For your sech, I think the bandwidth is too high. It's recommended to change R99 and R56 to 3k and 33nF. If possible, please place a 1uF/0.1uF small ceramic capacitor close to input and output pin. You can refer to the EVM design, the application is very similar.

If cannot fix the problem through above approach. It's difficult to find root cause just from sch. Could you please provide Vin, Vout, SW and inductor current (or load current) waveforms to further analyze?

    Best Regards,

    Eric Yue
