Hi Gareth,
Thanks for reaching us!
Please refer to below table to get TPS51220 vs TPS51220A difference info.
Hi Miranda
Does TPS51220A need to change the schematic to replace TPS51222? Or just change the BOM?
If TPS51222 does not use pin11 and pin14, can it be connected to gnd?
Thank you
Hi Gareth,
Please share your TPS51222 schematic. I will review it and give comments regarding to change to TPS51220A. Thanks.
Hi Gareth,
1. For inductor selection, we suggest to choose the inductor to achieve 30%~40% IL ripple. However, based on their design, the 12V rail's max IL ripple is as large as 490%, device will always work in DCM mode. Suggest them to increase inductance or switching frequency to meet 30%~40% IL ripple.
2, For controller application, they should pay attention to current limit setting. Did they used Equation 19~20 to calculate Iocl? If not, please check it carefully, to make sure the Iocl setting is what they want, and should be lower than inductor Isat.
Hi Miranda
TPS51222 can directly replace TPS51220A? It looks like the difference is in pin11 and pin14 Can it be connected to GND?
Thanks you
