TPS92682-Q1: Stand-Alone Funktion

Part Number: TPS92682-Q1

Hello,

I would like to use 3 x the TPS92682 as SEPIC controller in a LED luminaire project, i.e. a total of 6 current sources. Design parameters are Vin = 19V..36V, Vout = 6V..45V / 700mA. I need a stand-alone function like the TPS92520, so that if the microcontroller does not start during power up (MC fail-safe) the current sources have a defined output current (between 70mA ... 180mA each) independent of the MC. The limp-home function is given with the TPS92682 but at the first power up (MC defective or similar) no parameters are configured in the TPS, so that the current sources remain switched off.  The LED's will be dark. Is there an alternative component that has this stand-alone function in a SEPIC configuration or is it possible to bring the TPS 92682 hardware-wise into this stand-alone function?

Thank you

Regards

Herbert Madeja

  • Hello Herbert,

I am sorry but the TPS92682 has to have the register programmed first by the microcontroller then it can go into Limp-home mode otherwise it will not go into limp-home mode and it will not drive any current to the LED's.  The TPS92682 is the only microcontroller interface part that we have for driving LED current.

    Thanks Tuan
