TPS22953: OCP and PG feature

Hi Team,

I have three questions about TPS22953:

1. Does TPS22953 have over current protection feature, if yes, what's the limited current value (5-A Maximum Continuous Switch Current)

2. The power good pin is related to VEN and VSNS, seems it only monitors the input and output voltage level. Can this pin indicates the over current status?

3. In datasheet WSON package type has two package drawing types, both are Ok for customer or which one is the suggested choice.

Hello Steven,

No, TPS22953 does not have OCP and the PG functionality does not include current sensing or over current fault indication. We have a few devices with OCP, but the highest current rated device with OCP is TPS22950 at 2A.

We do not necessarily recommend one package over the other. The DQC package is slightly smaller.

TPS22953 has 5-A Maximum Continuous Switch Current feature, what would happen if the current exceed the Max current value?

How to understand the Maximum pulsed switch current?

Hello Steven,

If you go beyond ABS values you can damage the device. The maximum pulsed switch current can be thought of as the maximum inrush current for a short duration. It is not recommended to operate beyond the maximum continuous switch current listed.
